European Union car sales fell to record low in January, with Ford and Peugeot posting the biggest drops, new data has shown.

European Union car sales fell to record low in January, with Ford and Peugeot posting the biggest drops, new data has shown.

January car registrations dropped 8.7 per cent to 885,159, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association.

The monthly figure was the lowest since the data started being reported in 1990.
