ETFs grow in popularity with investors

Investors are turning to ETFs for 'tactical exposure' to hard-to-reach markets and asset classes rather than building portfolios from individual securities.

Investors are turning to exchange traded funds (ETFs) for 'tactical exposure' to hard-to-reach markets and asset classes rather than building portfolios from individual securities, according to research carried out on behalf of State Street Global Advisors (SSGA).

The survey of 354 global fund-buyers and wealth managers in Europe and South Africa found that more than half used ETFs to get access to specific markets and assets, such as emerging markets or commodities.
