ESB and Vodafone have signed a joint-venture agreement to invest €450 million in building a 100 per cent fibre broadband network, which will propel Ireland into the ranks of the world’s fastest broadband countries.

The deal means Ireland will become the first country in Europe to utilise its existing electricity infrastructure on a nationwide basis to deploy fibre directly into homes and businesses.
