ESB 2011 operating profit rose 38%

Over 300,000 ESB customers are availing of new pricing plans, ESB said today.

The ESB, which now operates under the retail brand Electic Ireland, said its operating profit rose to 38 per cent to €469 million despite a drop in prices.

Group revenue and other income increased by

nine per cent to €3 billion, primarily reflecting the inclusion of NIE for the full year 2011, and offset by lower customer numbers in Electric Ireland.
