The town of Enniscorthy in Co Wexford has emerged as the biggest loser from the collapse of Setanta Insurance, with new information showing that a group of local business figures were significant shareholders in the company.
Data obtained from Malta, where the insurer was registered, reveals that some 14 Irish people injected around €2 million into the insurer. Of those, nine came from Enniscorthy, a town with high rates of emigration and unemployment.
