Energy scheme set to save €330m over ten years

One third of the state’s public sector bodies have committed to energy savings of at least €330 million over the next decade, writes Nicola Cooke.

The 14 organisations include An Garda Síochána, the Defence Forces, the Health Service Executive and Bus Éireann as well as the departments of justice, education and communications and several local authorities.

Over the next decade, the organisations will introduce or increase a host of energy saving reforms in a bid significantly to reduce the annual €500million public sector energy bill.
