"Encouraging" start to year for Aer Lingus - Mueller

UPDATE: Aer Lingus has reported a first quarter operating loss of €36.1 million compared to an operating loss of €55.9 million for the same period in 2011.

First quarter revenue rose 15.4 per cent at Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus shares rose strongly earlier but have since dropped back after the airline reported positive first quarter figures.

A short time ago, share in the airline were up 0.1 per cent, although they had risen as much as 2.7 per cent. Since that the airline has commented that its ongoing process to sort out pension issues is "difficult and slow".
