Employment falls 1.8% in second quarter

Employment fell by 33,400, or 1.8 per cent, to 1.788 million people in the second quarter from the same period in 2011, the Central Statistics Office said today.

Employment fell by 33,400, or 1.8 per cent, to 1.788 million people in the second quarter from the same period in 2011, the Central Statistics Office said today.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of people in work fell by 0.8 per cent in the second quarter from the first quarter.
