Eircom to call time on music-swapping sites

Eircom’s decision to block customers from music swapping websites is set to have far-reaching implications.

Music swapping websites could soon be completely blocked in Ireland, if a new agreement between the music industry and Irish internet service providers is signed.

In a new initiative, the music industry has written to internet service providers (ISPs) to ask them to begin blocking websites of its choice. Last week, the country’s biggest ISP, Eircom, said that it would soon start blocking its customers from accessing music-swapping websites at Irma’s request....
