Third time lucky? Eircom, Ireland’s biggest telecoms company, is preparing to push the button on a straight sales process, rather than return to the stock market for its third public offering since 1999.

Eircom’s corporate advisers are championing a sale to a trade player or private equity fund, rather than a mooted €1 billion stock market listing. Its owners, including the private equity Blackstone, are believed to be onside with the sale strategy....
