Economy needs consolidation

Another week and more factory closures. The overall economy may be in good shape, but it is clear that the manufacturing sector is hurting.

Factory closures in Donegal and Dundalk announced last week will hit two areas which have already suffered more than their fair share of job losses. Calls for the government to find “replacement jobs'‘ are understandable but, unfortunately, the climate for attracting foreign industry is getting more difficult.
