ECB's Draghi praises success of Irish bill sale

UPDATE: Mario Draghi, the president of the European Central Bank, has noted "downside risks" to the outlook for economic growth in the euro zone.

Mario Draghi, the president of the European Central Bank, has hailed the success of Ireland's auction of treasury bills earlier today.

"An event like this could be one of the various factors that are making the financial environment today a little less tense than it was a month ago," he told a news conference.

Draghi said some "downside risks" had developed with regard to the outlook for economic growth in the euro zone.
