The European Central Bank (ECB) is expected to hold interest rates at record lows this Thursday after the governing council holds its monthly monetary policy meeting as economic indicators have stayed within the baseline scenario.

Better than expected consumer confidence and unemployment figures in Germany in the last week put a definite end to speculation that ECB president Mario Draghi might cut rates to counteract the eurozone's return to recession in the last quarter.
