The European Central Bank (ECB) is trying to woo Irish Central Bank staff to Frankfurt with high salaries, low taxes and generous allowances.

It is looking to staff the new single supervisory mechanism (SSM) being set up to regulate the EU's biggest banks. It wants to hire up to 2,000 new regulatory staff from across Europe once the legislation for the agency is passed in September.
