EC rejects private hospital backers’ VHI complaint

The European Commission (EC) has rejected a complaint against the VHI by private hospital backers Jimmy Sheehan and John Flynn, writes Susan Mitchell.

Sheehan and Flynn lodged a complaint with the EC Directorate General for Competition last year, claiming that the state insurer had abused its dominant position in the Irish healthcare market.
