* Someone needs to have a quiet word with Minister for Energy Eamon Ryan. In 2007, he refused prospecting licences to two companies that wanted to search for uranium in Co Donegal. His rationale was that, since Ireland was suing Britain over the processing of nuclear waste at Sellafield, it would be ‘‘hypocritical’’ to allow uranium prospecting because if the companies found any, it would be used in nuclear power stations.
