Christmas has come early for Dublin's retailers, who are reporting increased sales and a greater number of shoppers on the streets, writes Gillian Nelis.

Christmas has come early for Dublin's retailers, who are reporting increased sales and a greater number of shoppers on the streets, writes Gillian Nelis.

Tom Coffey, chief executive of the Dublin City Business Association, said his members were reporting sales increases of between 6 and 8 per cent on last December.

“A lot of people were struggling last year, but this year most of them are hitting their targets,” he said.
