E-net focus of Dail criticism

Much of the criticism of the Dail committee on communications last week was directed at Enet, a company behind an alternative broadband network.

E-net manages, markets and maintains metropolitan area networks (Mans) on behalf of the government. Eircom’s competitors can access these networks to provide broadband to customers. So far, 27 Mans have been built but five of these are not yet live. According to E-net, 16 telecom operators are using the Mans to deliver broadband to customers. Most of the customers using Mans are large businesses.
