Dunquin well holds promise for Providence

Drilling at the potentially huge Dunquin hydrocarbon prospect off the southwest coast is proceeding on schedule, according to ExxonMobil.

Drilling at the potentially huge Dunquin hydrocarbon prospect off the southwest coast is proceeding on schedule, according to ExxonMobil, and could finish sooner than expected.

The huge Erik Raude deep-water rig began drilling the well in 1,663 metres of water at the end of April and an ExxonMobil spokesman said that the company expected the entire operation would take between four and five months.

Nevertheless there has been speculation that it will enter a key phase...
