House-rebuilding costs have risen only slightly over the past year, although home-owners still need to ensure they have adequate insurance cover, according to the Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS).

The society's latest guide to house rebuilding costs reveals that over the past year the highest increases in reinstatement costs have occurred in Dublin, which recorded a 4.2 per cent rise.

However this was significantly down on the 8.78 per cent rise recorded the previous year.
