Dublin Bus plan ‘breaches EU rules’

The government’s plan to liberalise Dublin’s buses and fund 200 more vehicles for Dublin Bus may be in jeopardy after consultants commissioned by private coach operators warned in a report that the plan would breach EU state aid rules.

The government’s plan to liberalise Dublin’s buses and fund 200 more vehicles for Dublin Bus may be in jeopardy after consultants commissioned by private coach operators warned in a report that the plan would breach EU state aid rules.

The Minister for Transport Martin Cullen plans to bring plans to cabinet by the end of the month to open up 15 per cent of Dublin’s new bus routes to private operators.
