Farmers might find it difficult to support the Lisbon Treaty if cutbacks threatened by the government were implemented, warned Padraig Walsh, president of the Irish Farmers Association, last week. And that was before the Bord Snip recommendations saw the light of day.

While Walsh said that he himself would be recommending a Yes vote, he could not say whether this view would find support.
