Donegal business consortium made €80 million from wind farm sale
A group of businessmen and land-owners in Donegal netted about €80 million last year from the sale of their wind farm to Bord Gáis, writes Gavin Daly.
The semi-state body acquired Sorne Wind a year ago, but the price paid was not disclosed. It is now understood that Bord Gáis paid about €90 million for the project, which has 38.9 megawatts (MW) of wind power in operation. The price paid is above the industry average of €2 million per MW of wind power.
