Restrictions on mortgage lending are prompting developers to provide 100,000 homes for the private rental market over the next ten years

Dublin city centre: build-to-rent schemes are proving popular with developers

Private developers could provide more than 100,000 homes for the private rental market during the next ten years and some experts expect the government’s next budget will introduce measures that will incentivise such developments in order to help address the housing shortage.

Even without such incentives, US firm Kennedy Wilson is among those which have embarked on build-to-rent projects incentivised by rising demand and rents which it has experienced in its portfolio of 1,600 apartments.
