Dodging the draft issue?

While all the points in Neil Callanan’s column about the NFL draft (20/4/08) were factually correct, he failed to make a convincing argument that the draft impairs the weakest teams from getting the talent they need to become competitive again.

It is true that those players taken with the early picks of the first round of the draft do receive large (perhaps overly so) contracts, but that doesn’t mean that weak teams are forced...
