Doctors to ballot on strike action

Junior doctors are set to ballot on strike action in the coming days, over what they claim is the biggest cut in earnings of any state employees.

Sean McGrath, national director of human resources at the Health Service Executive (HSE), confirmed this weekend that it planned to implement ‘cost containment’ measures from this week. The Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) said such a move would leave it with no option but to seek a mandate for industrial action.
