Doctors rebel over lower pay contracts
Next week is the annual summer rotation of hospital doctors with the HSE admitting that it will not be able to fill all vacancies, especially in smaller hospitals.
Personnel chiefs at Beaumont Hospital Dublin are finalising new contracts after young doctors refused to sign contracts which would have paid them nearly €2,000 less than the agreed HSE wage.
They were told their starting pay would be €30,000 a year, or €577 a week, instead of the agreed salary of €32,000.
