Doctors differ as Reilly ruminates

Many doctors are unmoved by Minister for Health Dr James Reilly's expressed concern about the ongoing flood of doctors out of Ireland, writes Susan Mitchell.

Minister for Health Dr James Reilly's announcement that he had commissioned a report and a forum on Ireland's doctor exodus was met with an unenthusiastic response from those most affected: doctors themselves.

"Anyone else smell the hypocrisy?" wrote one non-consultant hospital doctor (NCHD) on their online forum, Enough Is Enough.

"He said he wants junior doctors to come up with ways to improve the situation and to bring those thoughts to him," wrote another clearly...
