Doctors at Waterford Regional Hospital have written to management expressing concern that they are sitting on a time bomb of missed or delayed cancer diagnoses.

The doctors claim that the hospital's new automated radiology service does not have the requisite safety checks in place for outpatient scans and X-rays, because the Health Service Executive (HSE) has not installed a programme that ensures doctors are alerted when radiologists detect an abnormality.
