I hear from people with direct knowledge that some of the meetings between the government side and the troika in the past week have been hot and heavy.

The Dáil rose for its summer break last week, and will return on September 18. If that seems like a long break, God be with the days of Bertie Ahern and Brian Cowen, stewards of the boom and the bust, when Dáil holidays ran from early July until the end of September.
