We grow up, we marry and we reproduce, we settle down and, bit by bit, we become different people.

We get comfortable, we run to fat, we go grey. We still see our friends occasionally, but we start our own families, so those intense friendships that we forged when we were young become less gut-wrenchingly urgent.
