Colm Moloney established Know Thy Place with fellow director Damian Shiels last February, to offer individual customers archaeological research into birthplaces - or localities - in Ireland.

The idea for the new venture came about when Moloney, the founder of Cork-based agency Headland Archaeology, realised he needed to find another market for his skills following the fall-off in the construction sector.
