Disability group slams state over funds

The government's €1.3 billion five-year funding programme for disability is running aground, according to the chairman of People with Disabilities Ireland.

The government's €1.3 billion five-year funding programme for disability is running aground, according to the chairman of People with Disabilities Ireland.

Nigel Brander said there was little evidence on the ground that money being released by government departments were benefiting the end user. Up to seven government departments have responsibility for the allocation of the money, but the strategy is riddled with disorganisation, said Brander.
