Imagine the scenario. The IRA sends an emissary to meet secretly with decommissioning chief General John de Chastelain in the coming days to tell him the organisation is willing to dispose of its weaponry.

Then, de Chastelain accompanies high-ranking members of the IRA army council to a number of secret locations under cover of darkness. The IRA provides him with an inventory covering all its weapons. He then witnesses the Provisionals destroying their entire arsenal.
