Despite crisis, Ireland has 33,000 millionaires

Ireland is home to more millionaires per capita than any European country bar Belgium, according to a new survey.

Ireland may be still in economic crisis but figures issued by Bloomberg and Boston Consulting have placed the country 14th in a global list of countries with the most millionaires per capita.

Ireland's ranking was the highest for any European country but Belgium, which had 12th place. The Netherlands was 15th.

According to the data, 2.2 per cent of Irish households rank as "millionaire households".
