Labour minister of state Alan Kelly has said that he expects a cabinet ministry if he is elected deputy leader.
He is competing for the position with three other Labour TDs: minister of state Sean Sherlock and party backbenchers Michael McCarthy and Ciara Conway.
Kelly he said that he had enjoyed his role as Minister of State at the Department of Transport, but would “love to get a senior ministry”.
