Former taoiseach Bertie Ahern joins a roll call of departing former cabinet and junior ministers who will gain from the lavish Celtic tiger pension pot.

Ahern will retire on a €150,000-a-year pension due to a raft of pay increases that his own government awarded to cabinet ministers and Oireachtas members during his 11-year tenure as taoiseach.
