Dentists feeling the pain after fees increase

Irish dentists have been hit with a 37.5 per cent hike in professional indemnity fees following an 80 per cent increase in negligence claims from patients.

Irish dentists have been hit with a 37.5 per cent hike in professional indemnity fees following an 80 per cent increase in negligence claims from patients.

Dental Protection, which is based in Britain but provides cover for the vast majority of Irish dentists, has been contacting dentists to outline the substantial increase in fees.

The organisation said that there had been 'no respite' in the number of cases being taken against Irish dentists.
