Deadline extended for North talks
The marathon talks between Sinn Féin and the Democratic Unionist Party over the devolution of policing powers to Northern Ireland look set to continue this week at Stormont Castle, writes Pat Leahy.
The talks continued yesterday as The Sunday Business Post went to press, but sources at Stormont suggested that they were likely to adjourn and reconvene this week.
The British and Irish governments have effectively withdrawn the deadline of last Friday, after which they had promised to publish their own proposals to resolve the impasse on policing.
According to a senior government source in Dublin, the two prime ministers are happy to let the talks proceed...
