One of the most serious and valuable endorsements of Ireland as a data centre location is the choice by Digital Realty Trust to invest in a fourth facility here, announced last month. DRT is a unique business that specialises in developing data centres, now over 100 worldwide, of which about 70 are in turn leased to operators.

It is the world's largest provider of wholesale data centres and already has a major facility in Blanchardstown, Co Dublin...
