Damages claim to be limited by jobs uncertainty

The High Court has ruled that damages for lost future earnings can be limited in personal injuries cases because of the uncertain economic climate.

The High Court has ruled that damages for lost future earnings can be limited in personal injuries cases because of the uncertain economic climate.

Mr Justice Bryan McMahon said that, ‘‘given the unprecedented economic uncertainties’’, he was limiting the payment of future earnings losses to a 36-year-old woman on the basis that ‘‘continued employment in her own job would only have continued for a further ten years’’ from 2011....
