The board of Cycling Ireland is facing a decision on the future of international cycling federation boss Pat McQuaid, following a request to support his re-election bid.

The chief executive of Cycling Ireland, Geoff Liffey, confirmed that McQuaid wrote to the board of Cycling Ireland last week, requesting that it re-nominate him for the position of president of the UCI.
