Cuts to Galway and Sligo airports to save €6.8m

The state will save €6.8million by cutting operational supports and public service subsidies to Galway and Sligo airports from the start of next year, based on figures from Department of Transport.

The state will save €6.8million by cutting operational supports and public service subsidies to Galway and Sligo airports from the start of next year, based on figures from Department of Transport.

However, doubts remain about whether transport minister Leo Varadkar will divert this saving to the remaining four regional airports - at Kerry, Knock, Donegal and Waterford - following last week’s announcement that operational supports for the state’s six regional airports would be restructured...
