Cut the cost of holiday roaming
New legislation aims to avert ‘bill shock’ for those using their phone abroad, writes Adrian Weckler
Using a mobile phone abroad can cost a lot of money. With greater competition eroding margins at home, calls and texts made or received abroad are easy ways for operators to recoup profits.
But the EU has been capping the rates at which operators can charge consumers roaming within the EU.
The per-minute ceiling in Europe is 52 cent for calls made and 23 cent per minute for calls received.
