If you are unfortunate enough to be caught out by a phishing scam, the sad reality is that you will usually have to grin and bear your losses.

Although Bank of Ireland quietly refunded customers who recently lost out on €160,000 after being targeted by a phishing scam, usually banks will not accept responsibility for loss of savings or investments if you do not keep the personal security details for your account secure.
