Cullen to reinstate funds for racing

Sports minister Martin Cullen is set to recommend the reinstatement of the Horse and Greyhound Racing Fund, the controversial state subvention for the racing industry.

Sports minister Martin Cullen is set to recommend the reinstatement of the Horse and Greyhound Racing Fund, the controversial state subvention for the racing industry.

The fund expired at the end of lastyear,but a formal review by officials within the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism has recommended that it be retained. Cullen will now bring proposals to cabinet in relation to the fund in the coming weeks.
