Crown pursues defamation case against hospital

Consultant oncologist Professor John Crown initiated legal proceedings against his own hospital, St Vincent's in Dublin, for defamation over the row that led to patients being denied potentially life-saving drugs for cancer.

Consultant oncologist Professor John Crown initiated legal proceedings against his own hospital, St Vincent's in Dublin, for defamation over the row that led to patients being denied potentially life-saving drugs for cancer.

Clinical trials of two new breakthrough breast cancer drugs were suspended for about nine months in 2002, after a dispute between Crown and the management of the hospital.
