Talks on a successor to the Croke Park agreement are due to resume this afternoon with significant progress reported before the negotiations adjourned at 4.30 am.

An agreement in principle is believed to have been reached between the government and Garda representative bodies while a number of unions have welcomed changes made by the government to its original plans for pay cuts for those earning between €65,000 and €100,000 and in relation to increments.
