If the Croke Park agreement is abandoned, the alternative is "permanent conflict" between the trade unions and the government, union leaders have told TDs and senators.

At a meeting of the Oireachtas finance and public service committee last week, union leaders defended Croke Park ahead of a forthcoming review of the agreement and warned that if it was set aside, then an "industrial relations war" would ensue.
