Businesses that fail to file their accounts on time face ‘‘severe consequences’’ regardless of what difficulties they are facing, the Companies Registration Office has warned.

The CRO said it was not in a position to waive sanctions on companies which breached filing rules, even if economic hardship was cited as an excuse.
